R/a in UWSC T-way
Been really getting into ranger/sin in T-way recently and getting some decent times as T2 so no problems there really. My issue is with T1, I understand the build, route etc no problem but im wondering what wepon set is best to wear, what armour upgrades?
Also today at the beggining of a run, i tanked and killed the first two groups of smites with no problem. Later into the run near the reaper i pulled two groups once more and this time they killed me almost instantly, any thoughts why this could be?
Cheers,

Blessed armor and a fire shield is all that you really need (obviously enchanting weapon)
Swap to a cold shield when WDing coldfires.
pcons you have on already +1+1 thats about it really.
If you are really taking damage from smites.. you shouldn't... take pyrebound armor.

An piercing shield ( I believe they deal piercing dmg (it works for me) helps more then a fire shield as ZF will only hit for like 5 max, while without pierce they hit 40-50's in melee. Make sure you keep distance from coldies as I think you got killed by frozen burst which hits smites which then use smite hex to hit for bout 100.
Bonus tip for killing coldies: Ball them with (remaining) terrors on stairs to reaper then bomb. If you don't hit all get out and retry. If you do just sit there. Reaper will kill any leftovers that healed self.

You're all crazy, Smites deal slashing damage.
I take a cold shield for killing Coldfires, and a Slashing shield for killing Smites.

I run blessed armor with a staff and Im fine, so it really doesnt matter what you run.
You might have pulled smites over coldfires, if you do that they will frozen burst the smites and then the smites will shatter hex you to death.
If you take forever doing pulls and whirling it might be best to have a shield, but when you get fast at it, it is unneeded

Ok thankyou for all the advice, i must have pulled them over coldfires as it has not happened since, had some decent times lately with quest done aswell now that I dont have to hesitate about jumping into a group.
Cheers,

Full blessed and staff is fine, and slashing shield if you want to tank smites without Wirling up.

Also, be sure to recast Shadow Form and Shroud on recharge. Extra damage reduction is always helpful, and pretty effective when combined with a staff.

It's easy, but quite expensive. Dont solo Q until youre used to it, and make some friends ready to catch it if shit happens. Use the tips given here and watch some vids. Besides YouTube, Xfire has alot of vids.

ok, from noob to master : p My tips to you now as ive pretty much mastered t1. Dont stand next to the coldfires when killing smites. make sure you pull all smites against the wall on your right so they are in one spot and then they wont run away and wont take ages to kill. Kill the coldfires that patrol the king spawn. you dont need to kill the group in the corner of where king spawns...
Personally I found that the quest is easier than popping. Ive failed it once becuase i forgot to use shadow of haste (nooooob) but apart from that its pretty easy, just recall on the reaper then shadow of haste in q spot, run up, end re-call wait 8 seconds, take cast whirling (make sure stability was up) kill the first two skeles that spawn in one whirling. Then tank the third unitl everything is spawned (do not try and kill it instantly) and then when all is there kill skele, kill white dryers, ball up terrors and coldfires and spike the hell out of them

Coldfire deal Lightning damage,so you need +10 vs lightning.
+10 vs fire is not needed, smites dont deal a lot of fire damage, they deal instead a lot of slash damage.
+10 Vs cold damage is not needed because you need to stay AWAY from coldfire and they dont deal cold damage except with Frozen Burst and they use only if you are in range.
So all you need is a caster spear (no sword or axe) with enchant and +5energy and 2 shields with +45^ecnhant and +10 vs lightning/Slashing.
Its a good idea bring full Blessed Insignas in all armors pieces.

lol, good luck jumping into the Coldfires with Whirling and not getting FB nuked without a +10 vs. Cold.
Additionally, the Coldfire's lighting attack should be dealing 0-1 dmg when you have SF and Shroud up, letting you idle at around %100 hp.
You crazy brah, you crazy.

I run with only a staff now, i have a shield for slash but once your r10 delver you can pretty much perma whirling so the slash shield isnt needed imo. Ive never had a problem with taking to much damage from FB either, i do normally pop an apple for the q though so maybe thats what takes away the threat...
